Teachers love it.

They can set homework knowing that as long as the students have access to the internet they can find their work. They love that they can book rooms from home; Magellan is particularly useful for this task, teachers can check rooms when they’re preparing work and plans at home, and book the rooms for the next day.

“Magellan does exactly what it is supposed to do which is provide access to your files from home, as a remote access solution it is very good for the money, very affordable.

It does a great job ticking the access box for Ofsted, to be able to say that every student has access to their work.

You can upload and download; I used it last night to tidy up some files which are shared, it is very good for that. It uses the same directory as the school network so you don’t have to remember lots of details and it’s tolerably fast, not outstanding, but perfectly good enough.

Everyone likes the security of knowing you can access school files when you’re outside school.

It caters for the disorganised, because its selling point is that you can get access to everything you need, if you’ve lost something or forgotten to email yourself the document you need to work on. Everyone likes the security of knowing you can access school files when you’re outside school.

I’m a huge fan of Magellan; it’s one of the best things CSE have developed.

It wasn’t difficult to set up, it did require a bit of sorting out the problems which county had created but once we’d done that it was fine.

I’ve been at this school for almost thirty years and the volume of files I’ve created is enormous; expecting to be able to have that all on a memory stick is unrealistic. Being able to access the files in a staff or student shared directory when you’re outside school is brilliant.
